​Current transformer fire at Olkiluoto switchyard

​ A failure of a 400 kilovolt current transformer at the switchyard operating under the management of national grid company Fingrid occurred on 18 July 2018 at 8:38 o’clock.

Firefighting efforts are at present carried out to extinguish the fire caused by the failure of the current transformer located in Olkiluoto area. The fire is under control and there is no risk of it spreading. The fire has not caused any personal injuries. As a result of the event, the Olkiluoto 2 plant unit (OL2) was disconnected from the electrical system at 8:57 o’clock. OL2 is at present using a 110 kV power supply. All the safety systems operated according to plans and the event does not cause any risks to nuclear safety.
