20.4.2026

The annual outage of the Olkiluoto 2 plant unit was completed today, Friday, April 17 at 11:45 AM, when the unit was reconnected to the national electricity grid.

The outage proceeded well and, in addition to refuelling, included extensive inspection and maintenance work. During the operating period preceding the outage, indications of a possible minor fuel defect were observed, which is why the matter was investigated more closely both during the shutdown and as part of the outage.

The investigations were comprehensive, and based on their results it was confirmed that there are no damaged fuel assemblies in the reactor. This supports the safe and reliable operation of the plant also in the future.

Next, the annual outages will continue at the Olkiluoto 1 plant unit. Its outage, lasting approximately 55 days, will begin on Sunday, April 19.
