Philippe Bordarier’s Tenure as CEO Began Today

1.12.2025

Philippe Bordarier has today, Monday 1 December, assumed his position as CEO of Teollisuuden Voima Oyj (TVO). The French-born Bordarier holds a PhD in Physics and has more than 25 years of international experience in the nuclear power sector. He is the sixth CEO in the history of TVO, which was founded in 1969.

Philippe Bordarier says he is excited about his new role at the heart of Finnish electricity production.

- Olkiluoto and TVO enjoy an exceptionally high level of respect internationally, and I feel very privileged to have been chosen for this position. Olkiluoto is the cornerstone of Finnish electricity production, and the work carried out here is highly significant for all of Finland.

Philippe Bordarier began his familiarisation period at Olkiluoto at the beginning of October.

- I have met the personnel, owners, stakeholders, and representatives of the neighbouring municipalities. The professionalism and commitment of the people at Olkiluoto has become very clear, and it is what makes Olkiluoto unique.

According to Bordarier, Olkiluoto is now entering a new phase.

- Olkiluoto 3 has reached stable production, and with ONKALO® we are very close to the start of final disposal operations. At the same time, the energy markets in Finland and Europe are undergoing major changes. In many ways we are facing something new, which makes this a particularly interesting moment to start here.

Bordarier also expressed his gratitude to Jarmo Tanhua, TVO’s long-serving CEO, who guided him through the transition.

- A big thank you goes to Jarmo for the excellent introduction to the role and, of course, for the strong foundation on which it is a privilege to build the next chapter of Olkiluoto.

Bordarier emphasises that he begins his work with both satisfaction and humility, which he sees as an essential characteristic in the nuclear industry.

- In this work, if you are not humble from the start, you will become humble along the way. We do work that is very meaningful but also highly responsible, where safety is at the core of everything—now and in the future, he says.
