Electricity production at Olkiluoto 1 to resume tomorrow night

23.5.2025

The Olkiluoto 1 plant unit (OL1) is expected to return to electricity production tomorrow, May 24, according to the current estimate.

The electricity output of OL1 was reduced on the morning of May 22 due to a fault detected in the turbine plant's condenser. The issue was discovered during a power increase at the plant unit, just a few hours after the completion of its annual outage.

Electricity production at OL1 was suspended yesterday afternoon to allow for a more detailed investigation. The cause of the fault was identified as damage to a pipe leading into the condenser.

Repairs have progressed well, and electricity production at the plant is currently estimated to resume during the night. For more detailed information on the schedule, you can follow the Nordpool electricity exchange: https://umm.nordpoolgroup.com
