Electricity production at Olkiluoto 3 was interrupted

The electricity production at Olkiluoto 3 was interrupted today, Sunday, November 17, 2024, at 16:28 due to a turbine malfunction.


The Olkiluoto 3 plant unit was in normal production when the turbine malfunction automatically interrupted the plant's electricity production. The plant operated as planned during the situation. The cause was the malfunction in generator seal oil system.

Edit 4. 20.11.2024 at 12:10. Correction to the previous update. The plant's electricity production can resume as early as Thursday, 21 November 2024, but the plant will operate at a reduced power level until Friday.

The event has no impact on nuclear safety. Olkiluoto 1 and Olkiluoto 2 units are in normal electricity production.
