Olkiluoto 3 is now the largest in Finland

The power of the Olkiluoto 3 plant unit (OL3) has been raised to 951 megawatt, which means OL3 is now the largest electricity generation unit in Finland by capacity.

Accordign to plans, within the next few hours, a load ramp test test will be conducted with the power reduced to a level of abt. 300 megawatt for a few hours. The load ramp test comprises tests in both the nuclear island and the turbine island. One example is the test designed to verify the functioning of the steam generator water level control systems.

After the load ramp test, the power will be raised back to the abt. 950 megawatt level at the plant unit tomorrow, 7 September. According to plans, the 1,000 megawatt limit will be crossed during the night from Wednesday to Thursday.

The plant unit is during the test production phase put through different tests at varying power levels. According to the current production plan, tests at the full 1,600 megawatt level will take place in early October.
