TVONS sets its sights on international growth
As a subsidiary of TVO Group that sells knowledge, TVONS (TVO Nuclear Services) works determinedly to ensure the future and growth of consulting services.

Timo Palomäki, the Managing Director of TVONS, expects growth in consulting services to occur in the next few years on international markets. The Company not only has won assignments in new nuclear power projects, but also provides training and consultation services related to nuclear safety to an international customer base.
There are new emerging nuclear power countries in the world, planning large-scale nuclear power projects.
- We have joined forces with Finnish operators to further develop cooperation and offer our joint knowledge to customers. Together we are stronger, and from the customer's viewpoint, also a more credible operator. With many of the assignments on offer in these projects relatively large in size, together we can better meet the needs of the projects by providing them Finnish top expertise in the field, Mr. Palomäki explains.
Top expertise comes from experience
Finnish knowledge in the nuclear sector is acknowledged internationally. The 40-year operating history, the commissioning of a new plant unit and the expertise in nuclear waste management accumulated in Olkiluoto now attract global interest.
- In Olkiluoto, we have strengths that many operators lack. Specifically, our involvement in the implementation of a new power plant unit and more than 40 years of experience in the operation of power plant units. TVO's role as a licensee gives credibility and guarantees we can offer practical competence. Moreover, TVO is an operator who is not dependent on plant suppliers, Mr. Palomäki points out.
For the future of the business, a significant issue is EU taxonomy, the classification system of EU for sustainable financing, where the nuclear power sector also strives for inclusion. EU published in the spring a report which states that there are no grounds to exclude nuclear power from sustainable financing. However, the final decision on nuclear power is still pending.
