Teollisuuden Voima contributes to the professorship of automation technology at Turku University endowed by a conglomerate of local organisations from Rauma region. The value of the endowment is 600 000 euros. The professorship is placed in the University's new Faculty of Technology.

The endowed professorship is a chair in mechanical and materials engineering where a new degree programme of MSc was started in the autumn of 2020. The professorship is already the tenth endowed chair in the University's new degree programme in technology.

The professorship was endowed by the Town of Rauma, Alfa Laval Aalborg Oy, BMH Technology Oy, Deltamarin Oy, Forchem Oyj, Kongsberg Maritime Finland Oy, LähiTapiola Länsi-Suomi, Motoseal Components Oy, Oras Oy, Pintos Oy, Rauma Marine Constructions Oy, Raumaster Oy, Steerprop Oy and Teollisuuden Voima Oyj. The funds for the endowment were raised by Rauma Chamber of Commerce and the Town of Rauma.

Rauma region has for quite some time suffered from a shortage of top-class experts in automation technology. It is hoped that the professorship will increase the vitality and attraction of the region. The decision to expand Turku University into the field of technology has been a strategic move to strengthen in a significant manner, not only the University, but the attraction of the entire southwestern Finland as well as the competitivity of the businesses in the area.
