The best production year ever for Olkiluoto 1 plant unit
In 2019, the total production of electricity at the Olkiluoto nuclear power plant of TVO amounted to 14.75 TWh (billion kilowatt hours) which satisfied about one sixth of the total electricity consumption in Finland. The combined production of the plant units was the second highest ever.
The Olkiluoto 1 plant unit (OL1) grabbed the historic production record. At 7.54 TWh, the production result of the plant unit was the best ever in history. The load factor of OL1 was 96.9 percent.
Olkiluoto 2 (OL2) also produced electricity at a stable rate to a total of 7.21 TWh, and reached a load factor of 92.7 percent.
- Last year was a record-breaking production year in Olkiluoto. The OL1 and OL2 plant units produced electricity in a stable and secure manner. In the spring, we also celebrated the 500 TWh milestone in electricity production, Ms. Marjo Mustonen, SVP for Electricity Production, says.
