In TVO group’s company magazine “Ytimekäs” (issue 2/1980) was written about the historical event:

“…the turbine was named as Kaino accordingly to the name day of 18 February of Finnish name day calendar. This was decided after a small negotiation noting that Kaino is also a female name. Another option would have been to use name Frida from Swedish name day calendar.”

Construction of OL2 plant unit was started on 1 November 1975 and its commercial use began in 10 July 1982. The plant unit has produced 251,293,919 MWh of electricity during the 40 years after it was connected to the electrical grid.
