TVO will not now apply for construction license for OL4

24.6.2015

The Extraordinary General Meeting of Teollisuuden Voima Oyj (TVO) has decided in accordance with the Board proposal that a construction license for Olkiluoto 4 nuclear power plant will not be applied for during the validity of the decision-in-principle made in 2010.

In its stock exchange release on 13 May TVO announced that the Board of Directors of the company had decided to propose to the Extraordinary General Meeting that a construction license for Olkiluoto 4 nuclear power plant unit will not be applied for during the period of validity of the decision-in-principle. The reason behind the proposal is the delay of the start-up of Olkiluoto 3 power plant unit.

On 24 June the Extraordinary General Meeting made a decision in accordance with the Board proposal. Consequently, the decision-in-principle made by the Finnish Government and approved by Parliament will expire at the end of June 2015.

TVO will be prepared to apply for a new decision-in-principle for the OL4 plant unit. Decision to submit a new application will be made separately.
