Concrete work completed in the dome part of OL3 inner containment
27.7.2010
In addition to installation activities, important milestones have also been achieved in civil works at OL3 this summer; the concreting of the dome part of the inner containment was completed on week 29.
The inner containment, which features a steel liner, is now being pre-stressed. This work phase will take a few months, after which reinforcing, formwork, and concreting work can start in the outer containment, i.e. the dome part of the actual reactor building.
The OL3 reactor building is a double-shell containment. The inner containment ensures the gas-tightness of the building and the outer provides protection against e.g. airplane crash.
