Olkiluoto Wind Power Station inauguration
TVO Wind Power Station Inauguration took place on Monday, November 15, 2004. Mr. Juhani Niinimäki, the municipal manager of Eurajoki put the wind power station into operation by a phone call to the operation centre situated in Oulu.
The inauguration was preceded by a test period of about one month: the wind power station was run in and e.g. its automation system was adjusted.
The test period succeeded in spite of the fact that the Olkiluoto wind power station is the first of a series with technology earlier not used at wind power stations, says the Project Manager, Mr. Jaakko Tuomisto.
By building a wind power station, TVO aims at gaining experience on the use of wind power and on its expenses in the Olkiluoto conditions. The supplier of the wind power station is a Finnish Winwind Oy and its degree of domestic origin is circa 85%, the nominal output 1 MW and estimated annual output 2,400 MWh/a. The imputed production cost is
3 cent/kWh.
The height of the tower is 65 meters and the rotor diameter is 60 meters.
