OL2 underwent a longer service outage expected to take approximately 15 days. Apart from refueling, the major activities to be carried out include low-voltage equipment replacement in two subsystems and renewal of both feedwater mixing units. In addition to TVO's own personnel, up to 800 subcontractors will be involved in the annual outages.

As good as new

The refueling and maintenance service outages carried out in alternate years at the plant units ensure that Olkiluoto nuclear power plant is kept in excellent condition at all times.

The annual outages are executed on the basis of maintenance and replacement programs specified in detail for each device and component. Good advance planning is utilized to prevent failures in equipment and components important to safety or production. TVO also implements extensive modernization projects at the plant units about every five years.
