Load reduction test to be carried out at Olkiluoto 1 on Thursday, 12 July

A load reduction test related to the modifications implemented during the annual outages will be carried out at the Olkiluoto 1 plant unit (OL1) on Thursday, 12 July 2018, at 9:00 o’clock.
The power plant is for the test disconnected from the external grid by opening the circuit breaker between the plant and the grid, when the plant is in full power operation. When the circuit breaker is opened, the generator driven by the steam turbine will remain in operation and supply power to the on-site power consumers. The power level of the reactor will be reduced to ca. 30 percent. After the test, which will take half an hour, OL1 will be re-connected to the external grid. The full-power level will be reached by the end of the week.
