    Works Continue at Olkiluoto 3 Construction Site

    Contrary to what Areva implied in its press release yesterday, they have not informed TVO about discontinuing work or presented any conditions for the continuation of work on the OL3 construction site. According to the fixed-price turnkey contract, the Areva-Siemens consortium is responsible for the construction and commissioning of the plant unit and for the project schedule.

    - We were surprised to read the information Areva released, says Jarmo Tanhua, President and CEO of TVO and continues: TVO has complied with the plant contract and valid nuclear safety methods and expects also Areva to do so. The schedule for the construction site is challenging and Areva's public speculation about stopping the works does not make it any easier to keep to it.

    At present, total workforce on the site exceeds 4300. Works have proceeded during the summer, and the installation phase has now started also in some parts of the reactor building.
