Olkiluoto 3 - Current news in November 2007
Manpower on the Olkiluoto 3 construction site has continued to increase steadily and now numbers some 2400, one third of them Finnish. The first buildings of the plant unit are nearing completion. So far a total of ca. 100000 cubic meters of concrete has been poured.
Installation of reinforcing in the external wall of the reactor building as well as pouring work in the auxiliary building has started. Installation of steel structures is under way in the turbine building. All six blocks of the condensers have been erected. The base slab of the circulating water pump building has been poured and reinforcing and concreting of the walls is under way. Installation of cable shelves and ventilation systems has already started in the switchgear building.
All the major components for the OL3 reactor and turbine island are in fabrication. The final assembly welding of the reactor pressure vessel has been completed, and nozzles are now being welded onto the pressure vessel head. The high-pressure turbine is finished and two of the low-pressure turbines' rotors await shipment to Olkiluoto.
