A new production break at the OL2 unit
The Olkiluoto 2 reactor was brought to a shutdown yesterday in connection with startup and the unit has been disconnected from the main grid since about 7 p.m. on Saturday evening. The disturbance was caused by a failure in a high-pressure turbine control valve actuator. The OL2 unit will be reconnected to the main grid after noon today.
- The unit was, after the production break on Saturday, at about 80 percent effect back in the main grid when it just before 7 p.m. was brought to a shutdown. The reason for the incident was a failure in a high-pressure turbine steam line control valve actuator. The actuator has been replaced during the night and the unit will be reconnected to the main grid within the next hours, tells Mr Reijo Sundell, Director of the Operation department.
The incident did not have any nuclear safety affects or environmental impacts.
