    In accordance with its HR policy, TVO ensures that its personnel carries out its duties with responsibility, motivation and competence and is committed to following agreed procedures. TVO maintains a good workplace atmosphere and good working conditions. TVO regularly conducts personnel wellbeing studies, which are used for further improving the HR policy.

    At the end of 2009, TVO had 717 regular and 80 fixed-term employees. Annual maintenance outages and other sub-contracted work employ a further 1,000 people or so every year. TVO also employs more than 150 trainees and summer interns every year.

    The OL3 unit construction project has considerably increased the volume of sub-contracting. The combined direct and indirect employment impact of the project is estimated at 30,000 person-years. When completed, the new power plant unit will require between 150 and 200 new TVO employees, and during annual maintenance outages OL3 will provide employment for more than 1,000 people from outside TVO.

    In accordance with its Corporate Social Responsibility policy, TVO aims to create an equal-opportunity workplace community with zero tolerance for discrimination, promoting equality in the workplace and offering potential for professional development and career advancement irrespective of age or gender. The percentage of women among all personnel has gone up slightly to about 21%. The average age of personnel is 44.6 years. Employment relationships at TVO are typically long-lasting.

    TVO supports personnel leisure activities, and many clubs are active within the company. Leisure-time fitness activities are also supported.
