Nuclear power plants worldwide
In January 2012, there were 434 nuclear power plant units in operation in 31 countries in all. Their combined output was about 370,000 MW, and they generated more than 2,600 TWh of electricity, i.e. about 14% of the world´s electricity consumption. In Finland, nuclear power accounted for more than 28% of the total electricity consumption in 2010.
In January 2012, 61 new nuclear reactors were under construction throughout the world. The greatest amount of new capacity was being built in China (26 units) and in Russia (9 units).
