OL3 - nationwide project

TVO is a private power company which generates no profit; it produces electricity to its owners at cost. About sixty companies from Helsinki to Rovaniemi have invested in the OL3 unit. These companies will either use the electricity themselves or sell it on the free market.

OL3 is a nationwide project, also in the sense that its employment effect on the surrounding areas and all Finland is considerable.

At the construction stage, the project will directly or indirectly provide some 30,000 person-years of employment; at peak times, about 4,400 people have been working at the site so far. During operation, OL3 will provide permanent employment for 150 to 200 people.
