  • Olkiluoto wind power plant

The Olkiluoto wind power plant was inaugurated on November 15, 2004. Commercial operations were started in April 2005. The plant was built by the Finnish company WinWind Oy, and its domestic content is about 85%.

With this plant, TVO is acquiring experience of the operation and cost of a wind power plant in Olkiluoto conditions, which are known to be better than average.

The wind power plant delivered to Olkiluoto is the first one in the product series but a commercially ready product. The plantīs capacity is 1 MW and its annual output about 2,000,000 kWh. The theoretical electricity-generation cost is EUR 0.03 per kWh. The wind range of the plant is 3 to 25 m/s, and the nominal capacity is achieved at a wind velocity of 12.5 m/s.
