TVO is aware of its responsibility as a major builder of wellbeing. TVO takes responsibility for the wellbeing of its personnel and for ensuring personnel competence, for the safe production of electricity, and for good cooperation and procedures with regard to all its interest groups.

Continuous development of occupational safety and a good workplace atmosphere form an essential part of TVO´s operations. Training is provided for both new recruits and old employees, in all personnel groups.

Safety always takes precedence in electricity production to ensure that the power plant operations cause no damage to people, the environment or property.

    Interest group cooperation

TVO values open, frank and interactive cooperation with its interest groups, the most important of which are personnel, shareholders, authorities, neighbours and local authorities, decision-makers, funding providers, subcontractors and suppliers, and the media. Communication with interest groups has expanded both in Finland and abroad with the OL3 project.
TVO in-house communication channels include the Intranet, meetings and the President´s Briefing for personnel. In the Olkiluoto area, important interest groups also include the companies which run the staff canteen, manage site security and provide indoor and outdoor cleaning services.

TVO regularly works with local authorities in a committee where the municipality of Eurajoki and the municipalities bordering on it are represented. Visits are a well-established form of open communication at TVO, and Olkiluoto has some 20,000 visitors every year. "Open house" days are also arranged for local residents. The quarterly TVO Uutiset newsletter on current company matters is distributed to every home in the vicinity. The company´s interest-group magazine Ytimekäs is also quarterly, and anyone interested in it may take out a subscription.

The media are kept up to date on TVO operations by organizing press conferences or sending out press bulletins as necessary. Progress on the OL3 project is reported regularly to the media at "morning coffee" briefings.
