Expertise from TVO to WANO's Governing Board

6.8.2014

Mikko Kosonen, Senior Vice President of Production at TVO, was nominated to the office of Vice Chairman of WANO (World Association of Nuclear Operators) Paris Centre Governing Board. The nomination became effective mid-June. The term of office is two years, and Mr. Kosonen also continues in his former position at TVO during this period.

The main task of WANO is to maximise the operational safety and reliability of nuclear power plants. The objective is to have good practices adopted everywhere in the world.

- As an Association, WANO is an important arena where companies that produce nuclear power can openly exchange and benchmark information on operating experience at nuclear power plants. I look forward to this opportunity to influence in an even more direct manner the development of nuclear safety all over the world. It is great to see that Finnish expertise is appreciated, Mr. Kosonen says.

WANO, World Association of Nuclear Operators, was established after the Chernobyl accident. WANO has Centres in Paris, Moscow, Tokyo and Atlanta. The headquarters of WANO in London provide administrative and support services to these Centres.
