As good as new

The refuelling and maintenance outages carried out in alternate years at the plant units ensure that Olkiluoto nuclear power plant is kept in pristine condition at all times.

The annual outages are executed on the basis of maintenance and replacement programmes specified in detail for each device and component. Good advance planning including scheduled replacement of important equipment and their components is utilised to prevent failures in them. Apart from this, extensive modernisation and maintenance projects are implemented at the plant units every five years or so.
