TVO: Consolidating French nuclear industry must serve operators in non-discriminatory manner

29.5.2017

TVO today notes the outcome of the European Commission’s Merger Review into the EDF-AREVA transaction which will centralize all nuclear technology, fuel and service businesses into a single vertically integrated company owned by EDF, which is also the world’s biggest nuclear operator. TVO is disappointed that the Commission did not initiate an in-depth investigation of this transaction.

TVO will carefully study the “no issues” approval decision when it is published and decide on its next steps. Looking forward, the French nuclear industry should focus on the timely completion of the OL3 EPR project and ensuring that EPR technology, fuel and related services are provided to operators on a fair and non-discriminatory basis.
