The Kokemäki refugee reception centre can accommodate a total of 100 people.
TVO has donated to the Kokemäki refugee reception centre different types of usable items that were made redundant during the operational change implemented in the Company. Office work points, equipment and various pieces of furniture, for example, were selected for transport to the Red Cross.

- The first asylum seekers arrived at the Kokemäki reception centre at the beginning of October. At present the total number of residents is 63, most of them from Iraq. There are fifteen families, and 30 children, explains Ms. Anne-Mari Hakuni, who represents the Satakunta District of the Finnish Red Cross. The Kokemäki reception centre is located in the former student accommodation house of the Satakunta Regional Adult Education Unit Sataedu, right in the middle of the other activities of the Unit.

The asylum seekers live at the Kokemäki reception centre during their asylum process. – This process takes several months, up to a year, says Ms. Hakuni.

The employees at Olkiluoto also participated in the cooperation project. In September, all kinds of items from children's skates to clothes and household accessories were delivered to asylum seekers housed in the reception centre in Laitila. The collection was organised in Olkiluoto in cooperation with the Rauma Office of the Finnish Red Cross.
